You may have heard that Madonna is opening the first Latin American branch of her new fitness club chain, Hard Candy, in Mexico City. If that doesn't prove that this city — the  largest in North America and one of the largest on the planet — is cool, I don't know what would. 

Ok, actually, maybe I do know what else proves that this city is hip, cool and forward-thinking. It's the hotels. Since the dawn of the 21st Century, Mexico City has gradually become home to a growing number of super-stylish small hotels. The past year or so has seen even more fabulous inns making their debut, from the ultra-chic Las Alcobas to the futuristic Room Mate Valentina.
