A few months ago, I took a very productive and enjoyable tour of Uruguay with South America expert Borello Travel & Tours. Among the many fabulous hotels we visited was one that wasn't quite open yet. I blogged about it in my article, 7 Interesting Hotels in Uruguay, and now I'm pleased to report that on December 26, the Fasano Las Piedras, in chic Punta del Este, opened its doors.
The Fasano company's hotels in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro are among Brazil's most style-conscious properties, and this new foray into Uruguay is certain to attract similar accolades, with luxurious bungalows, private plunge pools, and an expansive, scenic countryside setting just minutes from the hustle and bustle of downtown Punta del Este. This new property is sure to make it onto the itineraries of South America-bound upscale travelers.
